Whether it is a portrait of an individual, a couple, or family group, Augusto will accurately depict the facial and pose characteristics of the person and will skillfully translate your photographs into a beautiful watercolor painting. Augusto's portraits are gifts that are joyful to give and to receive....gifts that will be treasured for generations.

Guidelines: Your portrait starts with photos that you mail with your payment to Augusto Argandoña (pricing info follows).  Understanding basic photography guidelines, will insure that Augusto will clearly depict the beauty and characteristics of the person you love that is most special to you.  Here are some guidelines for you to follow:

Photography : All commissioned art is painted from photographs supplied by the client. If you do not have the photographs, it is recommended that a 35 mm camera and print film with an ISO of 100 or 200 be used and the photos be taken outdoors, although clear indoor photos may be considered. 

The photographs should be taken approximately 3 feet from the subject so that the upper body fills the view-finder. For two persons or group portraits, a single or group photograph will be considered. For portraits from old black and white photos, a description of the color of complexion, hair and eyes will be needed. Outdoor photography should be done with the sunlight at a slight angle so the person does not have to squint. Since the portrait will show the character of the person, the photos should not be posed, somewhat candid shots are better.  When photographing young children, give them something to play with to distract them.

Time: Once the photos are received, the portrait can be completed in as little as two weeks, however 4 to 5 weeks is preferred.

Price: The price is determined by the size of the painting and the type of frame. Unless requested by the client, all paintings are shiped with matting only.  Shipping, handling and insurance are not included in the prices below.
